FIRE Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames. NO contact with oxidants.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 62░C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 62░C use a closed system, ventilation.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water. Combat fire from a sheltered position.
EXPOSURE


  • INHALATION
    		• Abdominal pain. Blue lips or finger nails. Blue skin. Confusion. Convulsions. Dizziness. Headache. Laboured breathing. Nausea. Unconsciousness. Vomiting. Ringing in the ears. Visual disturbance.
    		Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• (See Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rinse mouth. Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. Rest. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable metal or glass containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment (extra personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours). Chemical protection suit.
    		Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs. Ventilation along the floor.
    		Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     YELLOW OILY LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR. TURNS BROWN ON EXPOSURE TO AIR.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance decomposes on heating producing highly toxic fumes (aniline, nitrogen oxides). Reacts with oxidants.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: 5 ppm; 25 mg/m3 (as TWA) (skin) (ACGIH 1997).
    TLV (as STEL): 10 ppm; 50 mg/m3 (skin) (ACGIH 1997).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     Swallowing the liquid may cause aspiration into the lungs with the risk of chemical pneumonitis. The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin. Exposure far above OEL could cause lowering of consciousness. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

     Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis.
